Salomon x Arc’teryx
Two brands I have started to really appreciate are Salomon & Arc'teryx as they have both grown in popularity over the past few years. As a result I combined the two brands in a concept collaboration to further cement the crossover of audiences.
With both focusing on quality for the outdoors, I chose a new color way reflective of the natural environment both brands have built their legacy on.
Salomon x The Arrivals Concept
Since buying my first pair of Salomon Xt-6's a few weeks ago I have fallen in love with the brand. My current obsessions usually influence or inform the design work I choose to do.
Last week I created another concept collaboration for Salomon with one of my favorite NYC brands, The Arrivals. As a fan of their aesthetic, quality, and focus on the battle of the frigid elements (in style) I knew the synergy was there.
From an audience, aesthetic, and community perspective the Arrivals tastes are very similar to that of Salomon so I paired them together, starting with a cheeky custom logo.
This logo helped inform the creative and color way of the shoe (which currently does not exist in any form or colorway).
Since sharing this concept on my personal Instagram account, this could have hopefully (fingers crossed) sparked some interest from both brands.
Stone Island x Salomon
For these two brands with a lot of heritage and cult followings, I merged their ethos and focus on functionality, built from experimentation for the elements. Green has been a color that I have been really obsessed, but it is also an important color that both brands play with heavily (due to influences from the nature). I also chose the Xt-4, a class that doesn’t have nearly as many colorways or collaborative partners as the Xt-6.
The most infamous design choice was to add the notorious Stone Island patch to the back of the shoe for added flair.
Salomon Xt-6 Triple Olive Concept
The Salomon Xt-6 has become one of my favorite sneakers due to the comfort, quality, and unique color ways. My design focus the past few concepts have incorporated the color green. For this concept I wanted to redefine one of their most popular color ways of 2021, focusing on brown and beige.
The goal of this concept was to showcase green in a context that differs from any of the brand's current color offerings (this green color does not exist across any of the brand shoe styles). I derive a lot of inspiration from neutral, earthy, tones when dreaming up colors.
I knew I wanted the concept to feel similar to the brown concept but from a green standpoint. The olive was the first item that popped into my mind as the foundational color base for me to play around with and I am very proud of the results.
Salomon Xt-6 “Cool Mint” Concept
For the past month Salomon has been a muse of mine. It started out after I bought my first pair and has turned into a full blown obsession around the color ways the brand has really mastered over the past 2 years.
For this mini run, I decided to take their most popular street-style shoe the XT-6, and add create my own color way ahead of the spring season (current color does not exist across any of the brand shoe styles).
